The Finest Gilded Press


Actually life is only about being a little bit better. A bit faster, a bit more robust, a bit more elegant. This is true in soccer and in the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and for sure in journalism. And that’s why there is the Lehmann and both Kurts the Beck from the SPD and the Kister from the Süddeutschen Zeitung.

The Social Democrats hosted a party convention last weekend for their comrade Beck in a cavernous conference hotel in Berlin to celebrate that bit about Beck being more robust than Matthias Plateck was. In contrast, for the journalist Kister and 8 further gentlemen of the free press the top management of the Hamburg publishing house Gruner + Jahr, to which stern also belongs, rented the Deutsche Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. They rolled out the red carpet, hired performing artists, cooks and Günther Jauch for the stage. (…)
