Mit einem Erdbeben anfangen! – Begin with an earthquake!

The most important topics of the year and the best pieces of German-language journalism in one book

The Murmann publishing house, the stern and Gruner + Jahr commemorate the Henri Nannen Award 2007 with a book for all those who love excellently written stories and are privately and/or professionally interested in quality journalism.

"Begin with an earthquake! The best journalistic stories of the year" is the title of the book, in which the best pieces of German-language journalism of 2006 are united. Included are fold-out picture series, prominent voices of the press and a commentary by Michael Haller Professor for Journalism at the Leipzig School of Media about the current state of print journalism.

The range of topics begins with naked hiking, leads to Pope Benedikt XVI, then on to the fraudulent deception of elderly ladies receiving home care and further to the Siemens affair, pharmaceutical scandals and a report about the wall between Israel and Palestine. It is all rounded off by one of the best photo journalists Robert Lebeck, who was honored with the Henri Nannen Award for his comprehensive life’s work in photography and his contribution to quality journalism.

The book is available on May 11, 2007 the day of the Henri Nannen Award ceremony hosted by Maybrit Illner at the Deutsche Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. Shortly afterwards a reading tour will be traveling to major German cities. Exact dates and further information will be available in May at www.murmann-verlag.de.

The book is edited by the jury of the Henri Nannen Award who is also responsible for the selection of articles. The members of the jury are: Elisabeth Biondi, Peter-Matthias Gaede, Thomas Höpker, Christoph Keese, Hans Werner Kilz, Giovanni di Lorenzo, Helmut Markwort, Andreas Petzold, Frank Schirrmacher, Cordt Schnibben, Martin Schöller and Alice Schwarzer.
